FREDERICTON (GNB) - Provincial assessment results in both the anglophone and francophone education sectors for the 2023-24 year have been compiled and are available online.

"Provincial assessments are conducted annually and help us to better understand just how our education system is working, and how to improve it," said Education and Early Childhood Development Minster Claire Johnson. "Assessments like this help to pinpoint areas in the curricula where students are succeeding or struggling and guide our future standards and expectations accordingly. Sharing our results ensures transparency and gives insight into how the system is performing."

Provincial assessments are conducted yearly in literacy, numeracy and science to target improvements and interventions in these areas.

Assessments in the francophone sector are carried out in grades 2-4, 6-8 and 10. The anglophone sector assesses students in grades 4 through 10.

Assessment results help in the development and implementation of plans to measure progress and performance. Johnson said co-operation among the department, school districts and early childhood partners is key to the development of these plans, which outline objectives for the year and how goals will be met.
