For guests looking to escape the holiday rush and unwind with a last-minute getaway, Airbnb is revealing "un-trending" destinations¹ that are less likely to be jam-packed with travelers. The selection was compiled by choosing destinations that usually experience an "off-season" during the month of December, and comparing this year's searches against last year's searches during the same time period in December.

From "destination dupes" to popular cities in their off-season, these global locales provide a range of holiday festivities and attractions with potentially less crowds. About half of Gen Z and Millennials said they avoided destinations they deemed too crowded with tourists in the past year, a 2024 Morning Consult survey found.²

By visiting popular destinations during the off-peak season, guests can enjoy quieter and more relaxed experiences, while discovering the same sites and alleviating the strain on these places during peak season.
