Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Celebrates Annual Holiday Cheer for Children Event

Rutgers Football Partners with Hospital to Donate 100 Coats to School Children

Newark, NJ (December 7, 2024) - Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children's Hospital of New Jersey celebrated its annual Holiday Cheer for Children event, delivering gifts and smiles to 100 Newark families.

Children from 8 local schools are selected to participate in the program. The children create wish lists that are delivered to the hospital and hospital employees volunteer to fulfill the wish lists, bringing the joy of the holiday season to the hospital and to the families who participate.

This year, as part of Chop4Change and in partnership with RWJBarnabas Health, Rutgers football donated 100 coats to the Newark Beth Israel Holiday Cheer for Children program, and several team members and their Mascot Sir Henry were on hand to deliver the gifts in person.

The Chop4Change initiative delivers 500 new coats to elementary and middle school children throughout the state of New Jersey.

Santa and Mrs. Claus came down from the North Pole to greet the families as they arrived to receive their gifts, joined by a cast of princesses including, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Milan, Belle, and Rey from Star Wars.

Participating schools included: Avon Avenue School, Hawthorne Avenue School, Chancellor Avenue School, KIPP, Luise A. Spencer School, JFK Highschool, Peshine Avenue School, and Belmont Runyon Elementary School.
