Viking Supported Agriculture's fall/winter season begins soon

October 22, 2024

WWU Sustainability Engagement Institute

The Sustainability Engagement Institute continues to facilitate its Viking Supported Agriculture (VSA) program that connects the campus community to local food producers who deliver boxes of their fresh, high-quality items directly to our office in High Street Hall.

You can learn more about the benefits of connecting to farmers and food producers in this way at sustainableconnections.org/csa/CSA.

Getting healthy food to people and supporting local and sustainable agriculture is a highly supportive activity that each one of us may be able to take part in for our own health, the health of the planet, and the greater good of our community. Please visit our website for more information on the VSA program: sustain.wwu.edu/viking-supported-agriculture/

We are pleased to welcome Boldly Grown Farm back for the 2024-2025 fall/winter season.

In an EXCITING UPDATE, our office is now able to accept SNAP/EBT payment for these shares as well as for the remainder of Viva Farms season, ending Nov. 21, 2024! If signing up for Boldly Grown Farms, here's how a SNAP/EBT customers sign up: Head to the link below, choose WWU as the drop-site location, select the share and any add-ons, then select the "payment in full" option before selecting "EBT/SNAP" as the payment method.

Please visit their website www.boldlygrownfarm.com/our-winter-csa to sign up directly. A small share is enough to feed 2-4 people. Deliveries begin on Nov. 7, 2024, and continue bi-weekly through March 20, 2025

Thank you for your interest in healthy, sustainable food, and for supporting our local producers!

Donate A Share: Food security continues to be challenging for our community members. We have set up a dedicated fund to receive your donations to help pay for fresh produce for students in need. You may donate here: foundation.wwu.edu/VikingSupportedAgriculture .

To date, $2,049.00 has been donated by the campus community, supplying the equivalent of 170 weeks of fresh produce for our community members experiencing food insecurity. This food has gone directly to our campus and pop-up food pantries. Thank you for your continued generosity!
