City of New Orleans Purchase of Enterprise Asset Management System to Improve Infrastructure and City Services

The City of New Orleans today announced the acquisition of Cartegraph by OpenGov, a cloud-based asset management system that will serve as a centralized platform for managing City assets across multiple departments, including Public Works (DPW), Property Management, Parks and Parkways, Sanitation, and the New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission.

"This investment in digital infrastructure will position us to provide better services and ensure smarter management of our City's assets & resources," said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. "By introducing this platform, we're taking a significant step toward greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency in our operations."

The system, which underscores Mayor LaToya Cantrell's commitment to modernizing City operations and providing efficient, data-driven services to residents, is launching in phases beginning in the second quarter of 2025 through 2026. Once implemented, it will enable more efficient resource allocation, faster response times, better communication to residents, and improved maintenance of public infrastructure.

Benefits of the Asset Management System:

  • Streamlined Operations: The system will allow for collaboration within and across departments, reducing inefficiencies and ensuring coordinated efforts.
  • Real-Time Data Tracking: Crews from all departments can update asset conditions, maintenance activities, and work orders in real time via mobile devices, ensuring immediate access to accurate information for internal coordination efforts.
  • Informed Decision-Making: City leaders and department heads can use detailed reports and predictive analytics to prioritize projects and allocate resources effectively.

As the City prepares for the system's rollout, staff will undergo comprehensive training to ensure a smooth transition and maximize its potential to support better coordination among departments and improve service delivery for residents.
