BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas - A group of Texas A&M System Regents charged with finding a successor to Chancellor John Sharp has hired Russell Reynolds Associates to conduct a national search.

Chancellor Sharp announced last summer that June 30, 2025, would be his last day leading the Texas A&M University System. Chancellor Sharp, who took office September 6, 2011, is already the longest serving chancellor in the System's history.

Chairman Bill Mahomes, Vice Chairman Robert L. Albritton, and Regents David Baggett and Jay Graham are members of the working group that will present finalists to the whole Board of Regents.

Members of the search firm are beginning to interview System leaders about the qualities necessary for the next Chancellor and what priorities should be highlighted in the job description.

A successor is expected to be identified before Chancellor Sharp steps down.
