ERO Philadelphia removes Canadian citizen wanted on weapon and threat charges in Canada

PHILADELPHIA - Enforcement and Removal Operations Philadelphia removed Jeremy James Wallace, a citizen of Canada with a final order of removal, to Canada on Sept. 27. Wallace is a foreign fugitive wanted by law enforcement authorities in Canada for failure to comply with a release order, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

"Noncitizens such as Jeremy James Wallace violating our northern border represent a growing threat to the safety of the American public," said ERO Philadelphia Field Office Director Cammilla Wamsley. "ERO continues to meet this growing threat to our national security by detaining and removing noncitizens who enter the U.S. illegally, regardless of how and where they entered the country."

On an unknown date and location, Wallace entered the United States without admission or parole by an immigration official.

The Macomb County Sheriff's office in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, arrested Wallace for possession of a stolen firearm and ammunition on Sept. 6, 2023. The next day they contacted the U.S. Border Patrol in Detroit for assistance.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in Detroit charged Wallace with illegal entry, alien in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of a stolen firearm on Sept. 8, 2023. The same day, ERO Detroit lodged an immigration detainer with the U.S. Marshals Service. The court convicted Wallace for possession of a stolen firearm Feb. 6, 2024, and sentenced him to 12 months and one day of incarceration and one year of supervised release. On July 12, ERO Philadelphia served him with a notice of intent to issue a final administrative removal order charging inadmissibility pursuant to Section 237 of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

ERO Philadelphia arrested Wallace at the Federal Correctional Institution Hazelton in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia, and served him with a final administrative removal order Aug. 9. Wallace did not contest the removal order and will remain at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, pending removal from the United States to Canada. On Aug. 20, ERO Philadelphia confirmed with the government of Canada that Wallace is still wanted there.

As one of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's three operational directorates, ERO is the principal federal law enforcement authority in charge of domestic immigration enforcement. ERO's mission is to protect the homeland through the arrest and removal of those who undermine the safety of U.S. communities and the integrity of U.S. immigration laws, and its primary areas of focus are interior enforcement operations, management of the agency's detained and non-detained populations, and repatriation of noncitizens who have received final orders of removal. ERO's workforce consists of more than 7,700 law enforcement and non-law enforcement support personnel across 25 domestic field offices and 208 locations nationwide, 30 overseas postings, and multiple temporary duty travel assignments along the border.
