M-DCPS Celebrates Mental Health Service Day with Resource Fair, Wellness Activities as part of World Mental Health Day Celebrations

Miami-Dade County Public Schools Celebrates Mental Health Service Day at Ada Merritt K-8 Center in conjunction with World Mental Health Day

WHY:

Mental Health Service Day is an opportunity for schools to showcase the resources and innovative programs available to students. Administrators, teachers, staff and students will

participate in a resource fair.

Among the participants are:


· National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI), which provides mental health support the families.· Mindful Kids will show students techniques such as yoga, centered breathing and meditation.· The Kevin Love Foundation will provide an affirmation station with a licensed clinician where students can express themselves through drawing, writing or a song.· The M-DCPSParent Academy will offer additional information on their programs.· Miami-Dade Schools Police Department will feature Goofy, one of five emotional support dogs.
