FEC: Check the return address of any email from the agency***

WASHINGTON - The Federal Election Commission has identified the source of emails purporting to be from the Commission, titled "Update Your Voter Registration Now!"

The emails, which bear the Commission seal, originate from an address, [email protected], that is not associated with the Federal Election Commission, and direct recipients to click on a link.

After investigating the origins of the emails, the Commission learned today that they were sent as part of a university's email phishing test.

The Commission reminds members of the public to check carefully the return address of any email purportedly from the Commission. The Commission's emails would always come from addresses ending with .gov or service.govdelivery.com.

Voters can visit the Commission's Election Day webpage to access helpful links to be directed to state and federal voting resources.
