Michigan Department of Corrections Recognized for Fostering Rehabilitative Culture through Data-Driven Supervision

Lansing, MI - The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) has been recognized nationally for its commitment to fostering a rehabilitative culture among its staff through the innovative use of data-driven supervision tools. MDOC was honored with the Most Rehabilitative Staff award from Recidiviz, a nonprofit that partners with corrections agencies to use technology and real-time data to improve corrections and reentry outcomes.

The Most Rehabilitative Staff award recognizes MDOC's exceptional efforts in promoting the adoption and effective use of technology to improve outcomes for people under community supervision. Michigan has been a trailblazer in embracing the Recidiviz Supervision Assistant, maximizing the tool's potential to create a more effective and efficient corrections system.

Since 2021, MDOC has partnered with Recidiviz to improve corrections outcomes. This enables a more proactive and effective approach to community supervision, allowing staff to identify people ready for reduced supervision or early discharge, and streamlining the associated paperwork.
