An induction ceremony welcoming the five newest members of Stony Brook University's Rita & Kurt Eppenstein Athletics Hall of Fame took place at the Stony Brook Arena on October 26, honoring the exceptional Seawolves for their outstanding contributions to Stony Brook Athletics.
The Class of 2024 includes:

Pat Cantwell '12 (Baseball)
A key player in the Seawolves' magical run to the College World Series in 2012, Cantwell's collegiate career included a .314 batting average and over 200 runs scored. A two-time Hall of Famer, he was previously honored as part of the entire 2012 baseball team. He is currently a bullpen catcher for the Texas Rangers.

John Espey (Men's Lacrosse Head Coach and Administrator)
Espey led the men's lacrosse program from 1988 to 2004 and is recognized for his significant role in ushering the Seawolves into Division I. With 116 career wins, he guided the team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2002. He continues to serve the Athletics Department as assistant director of facilities.

Bria Green '15 (Softball)
Green was the program's first America East Player of the Year in 2015, thanks to her record-breaking performance that included 19 home runs in a single season. She led the Seawolves to the 2013 America East Championship, and holds several all-time records.

Corinne Leake '04 (Women's Track & Field)
A trailblazer for the women's track and field program, Leake was a two-time America East Champion in the 500m and set a conference record in 2002, and she held the 500m record at Stony Brook for 18 years. Leake's professional journey now sees her contributing to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Dorrien Van Dyke '17 (Women's Lacrosse)
Van Dyke is one of the most decorated athletes in Stony Brook history. She led the Seawolves to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, scored an impressive 268 career points and was recognized as an IWLCA All-American in 2017. She is currently an assistant coach at Johns Hopkins University.
The Stony Brook Athletics Hall of Fame, established in 1991, was dedicated to Rita and Kurt Eppenstein in 2007 to honor their legacy. Their son, Ted Eppenstein '68, was among the first inductees in 1994. The induction ceremony was part of the Wolfstock Homecoming Festival.
