Protection and Advocacy Calls for Increased Investment
in Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Amid Challenges in the Disability System
Bismarck, ND - The disability community continues to face numerous obstacles, including limited access to essential services, inadequate funding, and systemic barriers that prevent individuals with disabilities from fully participating in society. In response to these challenges, P&A urges policymakers, stakeholders, providers, and the public to recognize the critical importance of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS), as a means to empower individuals with disabilities to live independently and thrive in their communities.
Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) provide essential support for individuals with disabilities, enabling them to live independently at home and engage in their communities. Investing in HCBS enhances the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, promotes autonomy and dignity, and fosters greater community inclusion.
Protection and Advocacy (P&A) intends to highlight the significant challenges faced within the disability system and advocate for increased investment in Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) in the upcoming legislative session. As part of this initiative, P&A has released a new video that sheds light on the importance of HCBS and pressing need for enhanced support and resources for individuals with disabilities. To watch our new video, please visit our YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@disabilityrightsnorthdakot7770). P&A invites everyone to join the conversation about the future of disability services. Together, we can advocate for a system that truly supports and empowers individuals with disabilities.
