ECCB Attends Church Service to Mark 41st Anniversary

The management and staff of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) fellowshipped with the congregation of the Bethesda Moravian Church in Cayon, Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis on Sunday, 29 September to mark the Bank's 41st anniversary on 1 October.

Joining the management and staff were retirees of the ECCB and special invited guests, including the lone living signatory to the 1983 ECCB agreement, National Hero and former Prime Minister of Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis, Dr the Right Excellent and Right Honourable Sir Kennedy Simmonds. Governor General, Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis, Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd, Acting Prime Minister, Hon Jeffery Hanley, Retired Managing Director, ECCB, Jennifer Nero, Deputy Chairman, Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange, Michael Morton CBE, and President of the St Kitts and Nevis Bankers and Financial Services Association, Pamela Herbert-Daniel also joined the ECCB family at its anniversary service.

Making remarks at the service, Governor Timothy N. J. Antoine assured the congregants that the EC dollar remains strong as the ECCB continues to work to safeguard the interest of the people across the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union. Governor Antoine praised the ECCB founders and framers including Sir Kennedy Simmonds who signed the ECCB agreement into existence.

"Without their vision, without their fortitude, without their decision to take collective action, we would not be here today," Governor Antoine said. The Governor also thanked retirees who have worked hard and contributed towards a thriving ECCB.

"It says to us that when small islands come together, we are more than capable with God's help of crafting arrangements that work for us, because that is what the ECCB represents, an arrangement that we have put together that works for us."
