NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

The Iceberg Inn, LLC

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southcentral Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: The Iceberg Inn, LLC

PROJECT NAME: LAS 35253

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: On the east shore of the lake created by Bear Glacier in south Resurrection Bay, northwest of Callisto Head. Approximately 3,000 feet to the east of Kenai Fjords National Park.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: The NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 6, Township 3 South, Range 1 West, Seward Meridian.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Iceberg Inn, LLC has applied for a land use permit for use of up to 4 yurts on 20-foot by 24-foot platforms, a hot tub on a 12-foot by 12-foot deck, a 16-foot by 12-foot storage shed, a 6-foot by 6-foot pit privy, a 6-foot by 6-foot sauna, and two helicopter landing pads during the months of May through September for commercial recreation on the east side of the lake formed by Bear Glacier. The yurts would be cached in the storage shed during the winter months.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:
Start: May 1, 2025
End: April 30, 2030

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: November 6, 2024

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southcentral Regional Land Office, 550 W. 7th Ave., Suite 900C, Anchorage, AK 99501-3577 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
