The first international forum "Digital Tajikistan" in Dushanbe

The first international forum "Digital Tajikistan" was held in Dushanbe on November 25, 2024. The forum, supported by the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the National Bank of Tajikistan, as well as other relevant ministries and departments, saw over 1,000 representatives from influential companies and official government bodies from 26 countries.

During the event, key figures such as Khurshed Mirzo (Director of the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies), Zavqi Zavqizoda (Minister of Economic Development and Trade), Khurshed Karimzoda (Head of the Customs Service), and Sirojiddin Ikromi (Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan) addressed the audience. They discussed topics such as the development of the digital economy, its impact on economic progress, digital trade's role in expanding export potential, the National Bank's role in the strategy for increasing financial access in the digital environment, and the role of financial technologies in attracting investment and asset management.

Sirojiddin Ikromi specifically emphasized the importance of digitalization, stating: "Digitalization is a key element of sustainable development in any economy, and the financial sector plays a key role in this process. The banking system is one of the leaders in the introduction of modern technologies and the digitalization of Tajikistan's financial sector. Development is being implemented through infrastructure reforms, the introduction of financial innovations, and the spread of modern electronic technologies, which are rapidly changing traditional methods of providing banking and financial services. The introduction of new digital technologies and products allows banks to offer their customers easy, convenient, and effective ways to manage their funds."

It should be noted the Republic of Tajikistan has made significant strides in recent years towards digitalization, including modernizing e-government, establishing a national payment system, and developing financial technologies. The purpose of the PLAS-Forum Digital Tajikistan and related events is to provide a platform for discussing crucial issues such as e-commerce, improving state infrastructure, developing digital banks, utilizing blockchain technology, ensuring cybersecurity, using artificial intelligence, and the prospects of Open Banking in the region.

Experts presented reports and exchanged views on various topics at the forum, including: "Development of Tajikistan - the path to a modern digital society", "Implementation of Islamic banking", "Electronic services in public administration and G2C: Public services beyond eGOV", "Digital evolution: Digitalization of banking and retail services. Digitalization of public services and the system of interaction with citizens", "Prospects of digital and non-banking banks in Central Asia", "Cryptocurrency industry - 2024", "Open Banking and Open API: Capacity and ways to develop traditional banking", "Financial technologies as a culture of the banking industry", "Blockchain and smart contracts: Tokenization of assets", "Use of artificial intelligence technology in banking" and other digital issues.

More than 30 companies from different countries exhibited their latest technologies and products at the forum.

The concluding remarks confidently stated that the PLAS-Forum Digital Tajikistan, as an important event and platform for constructive dialogue and exchange of ideas, would lay the foundation for reaching new heights in digital development.
