Foreign Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente held a virtual meeting today with the heads and officials of Mexico's representations abroad to outline the Government's foreign policy priorities and actions.

In his remarks to Mexico's 162 embassies, consulates, permanent missions, and liaison offices, Foreign Secretary de la Fuente called on all officials to embrace with enthusiasm, conviction, and determination the nation's ongoing transformation under the new administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico's first female head of state.

Secretary de la Fuente emphasized the defense of national sovereignty and Mexico's interests abroad. He stressed that the country's foreign policy principles remain paramount and should guide every one of Mexico's international actions.

He said that defending Mexican communities abroad is of utmost importance and a priority of this administration's foreign policy. "This is President Sheinbaum's primary directive," he stated.

The Foreign Secretary discussed Mexico's global relations, reaffirming the country's firm commitment to international peace and security.

He said that Mexico would deepen its relationship with North America; strengthen its leadership role in Latin America and the Caribbean; take an innovative approach to relations with Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East; and enhance its presence in multilateral forums.

He also emphasized plans to strengthen the Mexican Foreign Service. "My sole focus is to work hand in hand and in collaboration with the Mexican Foreign Service for the benefit of Mexico."

Foreign Secretary de la Fuente called on the mission heads to showcase Mexico as a vibrant democracy committed to social justice, and as a trusted international partner whose actions are guided by the principles of Mexican Humanism.
