The City of Santa Fe Parks and Open Spaces division planted its first seeds in 2009 for what is now a large community garden program.
The 2024 gardening season included five Community Gardens with between 75 and 100 plots per garden managed by green-thumbed Santa Feans.
Each spring, gardeners can return to reclaim their plot or pass it on to another budding small farmer. Plots are rented for $25.

Be on the lookout for signs at the community gardens in late winter or early spring informing the public that plots are available.
