Mediterranean spiced salmon

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces of salmon (4 oz. each)
  • 1/2 tsp. Kosher salt
  • 2 tsp. Mediterranean spice (see recipe below)
  • 2 tsp. canola or olive oil

Preparation

  1. Season salmon with Mediterranean spice and salt to taste.
  2. Heat up oil on a skillet at medium-high heat.
  3. With removed skin side up, sear on one side until golden brown. This may take a couple of minutes.
  4. Once a nice sear has formed, flip salmon with a spatula one time.
  5. Remove from heat when the internal temperature reaches 145°F.

Mediterranean Spice Ingredients

  • 1/3 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/3 tsp. Kosher salt
  • 1/3 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1/3 tsp. ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. ground coriander
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. ground all spice
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp. 5 spice seasoning

Mix all the spices together in a mixing bowl. Store in a tightly sealed, non-porous container away from direct sunlight and heat.
