Reale Elected to Monmouth University Board of Trustees

David Reale '96 was elected to the Monmouth University Board of Trustees at its most recent meeting on June 17. Reale, who previously served as a trustee from 2011 to 2018, is the CEO of Phoenix Tube Company, a leading manufacturer of stainless-steel long products, with a manufacturing facility of more than 200,000 square feet located on 15 acres in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Tom Byer '67 and Jeana Piscatelli '01 '02M were elected as emeritus status trustees at the meeting. Reale's term began on July 1.

"Monmouth University could not ask for better examples of alumni talent, dedication, and service than David Reale, Tom Byer, and Jeana Piscatelli," said Monmouth University President Patrick F. Leahy. "I am delighted to welcome David back to service on the board and honored that Tom and Jeana will continue as emeritus trustees. We are fortunate to have their leadership and vision," he said.

In addition to his prior service as a trustee, Reale has established several scholarships for Monmouth University student-athletes, including the Reale Family Baseball Distinguished Endowed Scholarship, which offers financial support to a deserving student member of the baseball program. Additionally, Reale's David Ventura Memorial Baseball Scholarship supports a full-time student in good academic standing who is a catcher on the Monmouth University Baseball team, and the David A. Reale '96 Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to a deserving female student-athlete.

Byer, who recently retired as senior vice president of wealth management and wealth advisor at UBS, served as a member of the Board of Trustees from 2013 to 2021. During this time, he was a member and vice chair of the Athletics Committee, a member of the Education and Faculty Affairs Committee, a member of the Investment Committee, and a member of the Admission and Enrollment Committee. In 2021, in recognition of his longstanding support and dedication to the University, the Financial Markets Lab in Bey Hall was renamed the Tom Byer '67 and Susie Byer Financial Markets Lab. During his time as a student at Monmouth, Byer was a member of the varsity basketball and tennis teams.

Piscatelli, an alumna of the University's business school, has been a member of the University's Board of Trustees since 2010. She previously served as board chair and was the first woman elected to this role in University history. During her tenure, Monmouth joined the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), opened the state-of-the-art Parton Broadcasting Center, revitalized the interior of the Great Hall, and announced a 30,000 square-foot building that will serve as the new home of the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music (BSACAM) on campus. Piscatelli also currently serves as a board member for BSACAM, which expects to open the new space in spring 2026.

The Monmouth University Board of Trustees is composed of 32 regular members who are elected to four-year terms and are divided into four class years. The board operates within the conventional framework of higher education academic governance for independent institutions. Board members are concerned with higher education issues and share a specific and genuine involvement with Monmouth University.
