LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF DJ CLARK KENT

Brooklyn, NY - Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement:

I am deeply saddened by the passing of the one and only, legendary DJ Clark Kent.

Throughout his unparalleled and trailblazing career, he produced some of the most iconic songs in Hip Hop, helped develop several of the genre's greatest artists and always represented BK to the fullest.

The music and influence of DJ Clark Kent contributed greatly to the soundtrack for my own journey, as I came of age in Central Brooklyn. He worked with iconic artists like The Notorious B.I.G., Lil' Kim and Jay-Z, while inspiring many others to pursue their dreams of Hip Hop stardom.

For years, DJ Clark Kent magnificently held down my annual Hip Hop on the Hill reception, making it one of the most successful events in DC. He even encouraged me to lay down a few bars at our 10th annual celebration. It was hard not to follow the lead of a legend.

DJ Clark Kent leaves behind an indelible and lasting mark on Hip Hop and the music industry from coast to coast. My prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May DJ Clark Kent, a great man of purpose, creativity and integrity, forever rest in power.
