NUMC Announces New Insurance Co-Pay Coverage for Employees and their Families

(EAST MEADOW, NY) - As part of its continuing effort to recruit and retain highly-qualified medical staff for its growing patient population, Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC) has announced a new initiative to support the health and well-being of its employees. Beginning Monday, October 21, 2024, NHCC is now covering all co-pays for employees and their families who receive health care services at Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC), regardless of their insurance plan.

This additional benefit will further reduce the financial strain associated with healthcare costs on staff and encourage use of NUMC's wide range of services. This initiative reflects NHCC's ongoing efforts to foster a supportive and healthy work environment, demonstrating that caring for employees is just as essential as caring for the community.

"Our employees provide highest quality of care to Nassau County residents and many of our employees rely upon NUMC because of that quality of care. This new initiative is our way of showing our appreciation for their tireless efforts," said Megan C. Ryan, Interim President and CEO of NUMC. "NUMC is much more than a hospital. We want to incentivize our employees to not only care for themselves but ensure their families can utilize our range of clinical services. Now, staff members and their families will have access to high-quality care without the burden of certain out-of-pocket expenses."

NUMC recently announced the expansion of its clinical services on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am - 9pm and Saturdays from 9am until noon for Women's Health, Pediatrics, General Medicine and Physical Therapy. Long Island's largest hospital also boasts a new MRI facility, dialysis center, eye care clinic, cancer screenings, mental health services and much more. NUMC serves more than 275,000 patients and handles 67,000 emergency room visits annually.

"Our staff's dedication to caring for Nassau County's residents is invaluable, and we want them to know that we care just as deeply about their well-being and that of their families. NUMC's leadership is working hard to improve the financial wellbeing of the hospital. Investing in our employees and their quality of life is a big part of that effort," Ryan added.
