Pueblo Police Department Shares Safety Reminders in Preparation of the Chile & Frijoles Festival

Pueblo, CO- As the 30th Chile & Frijoles Festival prepares to takeover downtown Pueblo, the Pueblo Police Department would like to share a few reminders for those planning to attend.

Pueblo Police will be utilizing several approaches to provide service during the event including bike patrols and officers on foot, partnering with private security as well as engaging the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) to allow for instantaneous video monitoring from staff who are in communication with officers at the festival should a concern arise.

Safety Tips/Reminders

  • Watch for increased foot traffic around the event.
  • Follow posted speed limits and do not drive distracted.
  • Do not leave valuables of any kind in your vehicle and remember to lock your doors.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and follow your gut instincts. If something feels unsafe, seek help.
  • Report suspicious activity to the Police by calling the non-emergency phone number at 719-553-2502, or in the case of an emergency, dial 9-1-1.

Street Closures/Changes

  • Union Avenue from City Center Drive to B St. will be closed. In addition, C Street, D Street, and Alan Hamel Avenue/Grand Avenue between Victoria and Main Streets will be closed through the duration of the festival. Street closures will begin Thursday, September 19.
