NOPD Arrests Person Of Interest in Almonaster Avenue Shooting

The NOPD has arrested a person of interest in connection with the shooting of 10 people in the 1800 block of Almonaster Avenue Sunday afternoon (November 17, 2024). The unidentified person is charged with unrelated crimes at this time as the ongoing investigation continues.

According to Fifth District Captain Jennifer Dupree, the NOPD has executed eight search warrants and seized four guns and has leads in the Almonaster Avenue shooting of 10 people.

Today, both Captain Dupree and Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick thanked the community for the tips and information that has been provided thus far. Kirkpatrick urged the perpetrator(s) to come forward, "Our ability in this police department to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice is at a national high. So the likelihood of you being caught is very, very great," she said.

Investigators are also asking the public for videos and/or pictures taken during the Second Line event, even if it did not capture the actual shootings, as they may be helpful to the investigation.
