Four University of Minnesota Crookston students received scholarships from the Crookston Rotary Club for the fall 2024 semester and two students, Clara Hanson and Adriana Swanberg, were recognized in December. Two students, Erika Roufs and Hunter Kasprowicz, will be recognized at a later date.
The Rotary Club gives out scholarships to both U of M Crookston and Crookston High School students throughout the school year. Rotary members include local and regional leaders and professionals.
U of M Crookston senior Clara Hanson is majoring in marketing and English, and is a team captain for the Golden Eagles women's golf team. Hanson works for several departments across campus including Alumni & Donor Relations, University Relations, the writing center, and Admissions, plus she has worked for Golden Eagle Athletics. Her family consists of her parents, who live in Grand Forks, N.D., and a brother who lives in Kentucky who is also a U of M Crookston alumnus. Hanson's future plans include law school at the University of North Dakota to which she was recently accepted.
U of M Crookston senior Adriana Swanberg is majoring in software engineering and cyber security, and is involved in a number of clubs and associations on and off campus including the tech club and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). She recently completed a sustainability virtual tour for U of M Crookston as well. Swanberg is from the Duluth, Minn. area and her family includes her parents and a brother who works in construction. Her future plans include an internship at NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) this spring and continuing her education in space studies at the University of North Dakota.
