Pooch Park Temporary Closure

The Pooch Park will be temporarily closed from Friday, November 1, 2024 to Monday, December 2, 2024 for biannual turf maintenance and resting period. This yearly scheduled maintenance is to ensure the turf remains healthy. This week, the City's landscape contractor began the process of removing weed grasses from the turf. Next week, the contractor will aerate the turf. Aeration is the process of coring holes into the turf so oxygen, water and nutrients can penetrate the soil. It also breaks up soil that has become compacted and hardened due to heavy use. These routine maintenance activities allow for the turf to remain healthy and vibrant during the warmer months. During the closure, residents may visit other Claremont parks that are pet friendly, which include the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, Thompson Creek Trail, and Rancho San Jose Park. Residents may also visit pooch parks in adjacent cities, such as San Dimas, Upland, Ontario, and Rancho Cucamonga.
