Buenos Aires, “Italea” promotional events

Between 27 September and 1 October, "Italea" promotional events were held in Buenos Aires. The leitmotif was Argentina's model in terms of tourism of the roots, considering both the huge number of Italian descendants and the fact that, over time, compatriots have settled in Argentina, mostly coming from the mosaic of small villages, inland areas and territories of our country that "Italea" promotes.

The first "Italea" event took place on the evening of 27 September at "Casa Paradiso", a space dedicated to the Italian gastronomic tradition of the well-known chef and "Masterchef Argentina" judge, Donato De Santis.

The second initiative was held on the evening of 28 September at the prestigious "Circolo Italiano" in the capital, where "Italea" benefits, initiatives and proposals were presented.

The third event - made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, represented for the occasion by Mayor Macri - was the "Festival de las Raíces italianas" (Festival of the Italian Roots) on 29 September in the central Plaza Uruguay, with the exceptional participation of the people, associations and institutions representing the community, starting with COMITES and Feditalia. Many thousands of participants visited the stands of the associations and of "Italea" and attended performances by musicians - including Antonio Castrignano and Taranta Sound - and dance groups.

Again this year, the Consulate General in Buenos Aires organised - together with the most important local training organisation in the sector, namely the "Pizzaioli School" - the 4th "Latin America Pizzaioli School Championship" (on 28 and 29 September).

The special edition of the initiative for the Year of the Italian Roots in the World took place in Buenos Aires' main fair and exhibition centre, "La Rural", as part of the International Tourism Fair of Latin America (FIT) - and was an ideal anticipation of the "Week of Italian Cuisine in the World" scheduled for next November.

The event - visited by 20,000 people - saw not only the actual competition - with one hundred pizza makers competing in ten categories, and a jury composed of leading Italian chefs, among others - but also masterclasses, pizza courses for children, performances, talks and tastings.
