FEC names Susan Ruge-Hudson Inspector General

WASHINGTON-The Federal Election Commission today announced the appointment of Susan Ruge-Hudson as the agency's new Inspector General.

Ms. Ruge-Hudson comes to the Commission with nearly 15 years of experience in the federal government. She has served on leadership teams at the Department of the Interior Office of Inspector General (OIG), Government Publishing Office OIG, and Office of Personnel Management OIG, as well as the Department of Defense's Defense Digital Service.

"Susan's impressive background and experience make her supremely qualified to be the Federal Election Commission's next Inspector General. I am thankful for her integrity and for her future service to the FEC and to the American people," said Chairman Sean J. Cooksey.

Prior to her federal service, Ms. Ruge-Hudson worked at private law firms and specialized in corporate and tax law. She holds a BS in Politics from Washington & Lee University, a JD from Columbia Law School, and an LLM in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.

Ms. Ruge-Hudson succeeds Christopher Skinner, who served as the Commission's Inspector General from August 2019 until April 2024. She will assume her new post on October 21, 2024.
