A meeting of the members of the Interstate Coordinating Council of the International Television and Broadcasting Company MIR was held in Moscow.
The event was attended by the heads and representatives of the branches of the International TV and Broadcasting Companies of the CIS countries.
The meeting was led by Chair of the Council, Deputy Head of the President Administration of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Pertsov.
Secretary General of the IPA CIS Council Dmitriy Kobitskiy said that the TV and Broadcasting Company participates in the coverage of the traditional major international events of the IPA CIS, both within the walls of the Tavricheskiy Palace and beyond.
"When holding Assembly events in the Commonwealth countries, we always feel the support of regional editorial offices. And this is mutual trust. We see an attentive attitude to the requests of the MIR correspondents from all representatives of the parliaments of the CIS countries, without exception," - the Secretary General said.
Dmitriy Kobitskiyadded that another link between the organizations was the medal "Tree of Friendship", established by the IPA CIS Council and MIR. The award is given for outstanding contribution to the formation of the information space of the Commonwealth.
He presented the gold medal to Chair of the International Television and Broadcasting Company MIR Radik Batyrshinand Head of the Information Policy Service of the President Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Daiyrbek Orunbekov.
Director of the St. Petersburg branch of the International Television and Broadcasting Company Olga Martisovaspoke about the information interaction between MIR and the IPA CIS.
Over the past two years, she said, more than 100 news about the activities of the Assembly had been published on the resources of the International TV and Broadcasting Company. Special attention had been paid to the coverage of the work of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of the IPA CIS Member Nations (IPA CIS IIMDD).
Every year, the TV and Broadcasting Company covers the main events of the Assembly with the participation of Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko. Traditionally, they are held at the headquarters of the organization, which is located in the Tavricheskiy Palace. The St. Petersburg branch of MIR also works there.
"In recent years, the geography of the Assembly's events has expanded. The events of the autumn session were held in Bishkek, and the International Tourism Forum Travel Hub "Commonwealth"and the meeting of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sportwere held in Dushanbe. So not only journalists from St. Petersburg, but also Tajik and Kyrgyz journalists had to work on covering these events on MIR" - the head of the branch noted.
The meeting reviewed the participation of MIR in information support of decisions of the Council of the CIS Heads of State and the Council of the CIS Heads of Government, and also considered the main directions of development of broadcasting company in 2025-2026.
It was noted that MIR's activities are aimed at further strengthening the common information space of the CIS, taking into account the peculiarities of the national interests of the companyэs founding states, in order to preserve and spread the traditional spiritual and moral values of the nations of the Commonwealth countries, including friendship, good neighborhood, mutual respect and understanding, interethnic and interfaith harmony, respect for culture, languages and traditions of other nations.
In conclusion, the participants of the meeting elected the Chair of the Coordinating Council - Press Secretary of the Chair of the Government of the Russian Federation - Director of the Press Service and Information Department of the Government of the Russian Federation Boris Belyakov.
The International Television and Broadcasting Company MIR was established in 1992 with the aim of highlighting the political, economic and humanitarian cooperation of the Commonwealth countries, forming a common information space and promoting international information exchange. The channel introduces viewers to the modern life and history of the post-Soviet countries. The potential audience is more than 150 million people.
The agreement between the IPA CIS and the International Television and Broadcasting Company MIR on information interaction and coverage of the activities of the IPA CIS was signed on 25 February 2010.
