Median Improvements Along TxDOT Corridors

If you've driven along FM 646 just west of I-45 you've most likely seen the new plants that are being added to the medians. The plantings are part of a beautification project impacting the major TxDOT corridors across the City including FM 518, FM 2094, SH 96, and the I-45 feeder roads and nearby detention ponds.

The project is completely funded by TxDOT, which is also overseeing construction and the installation of an irrigation system, as well as the purchase and planting of a large variety of trees, shrubs, and other landscaping. League City was involved in the overall design of the beautification project and helped to select the types of plants to be placed in the medians, ensuring they would be hearty enough to withstand the summer heat and the fumes of heavy traffic. The rest of the roadway medians are expected to be completed in late January to early February.
