City Urges Residents to Execute Evacuation Plans Now

The City of Cape Coral urges its residents to make evacuation arrangements now. Waiting until the last minute puts you and your family at risk. Remember, once conditions get bad, emergency services may be suspended. If you stay and later find it's unsafe, emergency crews won't be able to reach you until it's safe to deploy. So please, do your part-evacuate now if you're in an evacuation zone.

Evacuation Orders

Lee County has issued evacuation orders for Zones A and B. Residents in these zones should make arrangements to evacuate as soon as possible. City Closures, Cancellations

City Hall and all ancillary facilities will be closed Tuesday, October 8, through Thursday, October 10. Normal business hours are expected to resume Friday, October 11, pending any unforeseen circumstances.

In light of the approaching storm, please note the following cancellations:

• This week's City Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting scheduled for Wednesday is canceled.
• The Youth Council meeting scheduled for Friday is canceled.
• The Bike Night event planned for October 12 is also canceled.

Generator Safety

If you're using a generator, keep it outside and away from windows. Do not run it inside your home or garage-this can cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Be smart and safe with your equipment.

Emergency Numbers

For non-emergencies, please call 311. If you are in an emergency situation, dial 911.

Downed Power Lines

After the storm, there may be downed power lines. Do not go near them. Treat every downed line as if it's live and dangerous. Report it immediately to the authorities.

Solid Waste

Residents should bring in all trash and recycling carts from the edge of the roadway and secure them from the wind.

If your trash pickup day is Wednesday or Thursday, collection will be delayed until next week. Regular service is expected to resume on Friday, October 11, pending any unforeseen circumstances.

Final Preparations

Residents are reminded to put up hurricane shutters and complete any final preparations for their homes. This includes securing outdoor items and ensuring you have enough supplies on hand.
