Fort Worth Animal Care and Control is relaunching its volunteer program with an enhanced P.A.W.S. Team, designed to increase community involvement and improve care for shelter animals. The program provides both new and experienced volunteers with structured, rewarding opportunities to help animals in need.
Each year, volunteers assist FWACC in caring for over 20,000 animals, playing a vital role in improving the shelter environment and supporting pet adoption efforts. Whether helping with dog walks, facilitating adoptions or offering specialized care, volunteers make a lasting impact on animals and the community.
The P.A.W.S. Team offers flexible roles at 4 FWACC locations. New program updates include:
Comprehensive training to equip volunteers with necessary skills.
Clear roles like dog walking, adoption support, kennel care and pet photography.
Flexible shifts with easy scheduling through an online portal.
Expanded foster program for volunteers interested in intensive care.
Volunteer roles include:
Kennel Assistant: Feed, clean, and socialize animals.
Adoptions Assistant: Match pets with families.
Dog Walker: Provide exercise and mental stimulation.
Animal Enrichment: Help reduce stress and improve adoptability.
Pet Photography: Capture photos of adoptable pets.
Neonatal Assistant: Care for newborn or orphaned animals.
FWACC recognizes volunteers as key to its success. Volunteer Coordinators offer guidance and feedback, and volunteers are encouraged to share their experiences on social media to raise awareness.
Sign up easily by visiting the FWACC volunteer page, completing required documents and scheduling shifts through the online portal.
Join the P.A.W.S. Team to help create a more compassionate environment for both animals and Fort Worth residents.
