Cast your vote for the most inspiring submission
The Say it in 6competition is back for its fifth year, offering graduate students a unique way to showcasetheir creativity and communication skills.
Each year, the competition challengesstudents to relate their academic journey to a particulartheme, usingan original image and statement of exactly six words. This year's theme is "inspiration."
"I personally lovewhen submissions start rolling in," says Ania Meier, graduate program specialist. "It's like a special present every time I see a submissionnotification pop-up in our graduate studies inbox."
Now in its fifth year, the Say it in 6 competition continues to grow in both participation and significance. It'salso a way for undergraduates, alumni, and staff to get a glimpse into graduate education at UWL.
"One thing that has changed," explains Meredith Thomsen, dean of UWL Graduate & Extended Learning, "is that the first time we held Say it in 6 was during the pandemic, and it felt really extraordinary to provide a way for the community to do something 'together' despite the pandemic's disruptions. Since then, we have been able to make Say it in 6 a regular part of the school year."
While the competition has evolved, its central goal remains the same: to connect, inspire and create powerful visual messages.
"When selecting judges, I try to capture a diverse set of perspectives on graduate education," Thomsen says. "Instructors, administrators and academic staff who support graduate students."
Although the judges choose first through third place winners, the public is invited to vote for The People's Choice Award - which will award the recipient with a $300 scholarship.
Online voting is open Thursday, Nov. 7, to Wednesday, Nov. 13, with winners announced the following Monday. Browse the competition gallery and vote for the submission that best embodies "inspiration."
