Dr. Barbara H. Jung named first woman dean of UC San Diego School of Medicine

Past AGA President Barbara Jung, MD, AGAF, is moving to La Jolla from the University of Washington, one of the largest academic departments in the country. Dr. Jung was serving as chair of medicine, overseeing more than 1,200 faculty, 1,000 staff and 500 residents and fellows.

Dr. Fola May received $3 million NIH grant

Folasade May, MD, PhD, MPhil, along with Dr. Beth Glenn, will use the grant to improve follow-up care for colorectal screening in underserved populations. The new study will focus on increasing follow-up care for underserved patients who receive abnormal results from stool-based fecal immunochemical tests (FIT).

Dr. Jana Al Hashash selected for Mayo Clinic Early Career Innovator Award

Jana Al Hashash, MD, MSc, AGAF, chair of the AGA Clinical Practice Update Committee, was selected as one of six awardees from over 100 applicants submitted across the enterprise. The award will provide $50k in support.
