Arrest Made in June 7, 2024 Case

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, Flossmoor Police Detectives arrested a juvenile from University Park who is suspected of committing an attempted armed vehicular hijacking in the 700 block of Sterling Avenue in Flossmoor on June 7, 2024.

Police said that License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras, video surveillance and other types of evidence were instrumental in identifying the suspect and in filing the four charges: Attempted First Degree Murder (Class X Felony); Attempted Aggravated Armed Vehicular Hijacking (Class X Felony); Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle (Class 2 Felony); and Aggravated Battery Public Way (Class 3 Felony).

The suspect is in custody at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center.

"The Flossmoor Police Department thanks our detectives for their exceptional work on this case and for a job well done on locating and apprehending the suspect," says Carl Estelle, Director of Police Services.

Note: All suspects and arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
