Self-service sandbag sites will be open again on Sunday, October 6, from 7 AM to 7 PM at two Parks & Recreation facilities in the City of Tampa.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy rainfall is in the forecast beginning Sunday. Weather conditions may impact operations at sandbag sites.

Residents can stop by the Himes Ave Complex (4501 S Himes Ave) or Al Barnes Park (2902 N 32nd St) to fill a maximum of 10 sandbags per household. The City of Tampa will also be providing free tarps at sandbag sites on Sunday while supplies last.

Sandbags are more effective at preventing or reducing flooding when paired with a plastic liner behind and beneath them to prevent water intrusion.

As the rain event begins today, drivers are urged to avoid driving through floodwater and report flooded streets or debris on the roadway to the Tampa Police Non-Emergency Line at (813) 231-6130, which will allow Tampa Police and the City Mobility departments to secure the area. Realtime flooding can be monitored at tampa.gov/floodmap
