Alfred University to host art auction, raffle to aid western North Carolina artists and craftspeople

ALFRED, NY - Alfred University's Scholes Library and the School of Art and Design, New York State College of Ceramics, will host an auction and raffle Oct. 24-25 to raise funds in support of artists and craftspeople in western North Carolina, which was devastated by Hurricane Helene.

This area of North Carolina has deep ties to craft traditions that have inspired many within Alfred University's School of Art and Design. Additionally, AU artists, faculty, alumni, and students have contributed their own energies and talents to the vibrant arts communities of the North Carolina Appalachians. The fundraising event provides an opportunity to lend support to western North Carolina artists and craftspeople who need immediate assistance.

Artists who are interested in donating their own work to the auction and raffle should contact:

They may also drop off donated artwork in the Art Office, located in Binns-Merrill Hall on the Alfred University campus, by Oct. 23.

People who are interested in attending the event are invited to visit Alfred University's Scholes Library between 11 am and 5 pm Friday, Oct. 23, and between 8:30 am and 3 pm Oct. 24. Visitors may bid on individual items or purchase tickets for raffle items. Each ticket costs $1; 11 tickets for $10.

All proceeds from the auction and raffle will go to the Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF+), an organization committed to serving craft artists through emergency relief and recovery support. To learn more about CERF+ , visit cerfplus. Org.
