press release

On September 19, 2024, at approximately 12:10 p.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred involving a NY State Police car on State Highway 37 in the town of Louisville. A preliminary investigation determined that Trooper James Bertram was traveling west in marked patrol vehicle B103 on State Highway 37 when a 2011 white Mazda sedan operated by Michael Martinez, age 18, of Massena, NY, failed to observe Trooper Bertram stopping to conduct a left-hand turn into the rest area off of State Highway 37, striking the patrol vehicle in the rear.

Martinez was transported to Canton Potsdam Hospital for medical evaluations and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Trooper Bertram was not injured during this collision.
