West Virginia American Water Proudly Recognizes American Water Charita...

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Oct. 22, 2024) - The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., recently announced three organizations that were awarded STEM and Workforce Readiness grants, supporting communities served by West Virginia American Water.
"I am always so appreciative of the American Water Charitable Foundation's investment in West Virginia and our local communities," said Rob Burton, President, West Virginia American Water. "Funding in workforce development and STEM initiatives in West Virgnina helps us bolster economic growth, create diversity of thought and ultimately create a better tomorrow for those impacted by these grants."
The Workforce Readiness grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation's Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. This opportunity focuses on general career readiness, financial and business literacy, positive youth development and life skills training. Below is a list of grantees in West Virginia:
  • Golden Girl Group Home ($25,000 Workforce Readiness Grant) - Supporting "Working Girls Succeed," an initiative that provides workforce development programs for diverse, at-risk young women.
  • Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences ($25,000 STEM Grant) - Supporting two traveling exhibits coming in Fall 2025 to focus on water education: Water's Extreme Journey and Ocean Adventure!
  • Putnam County Chamber of CommerceFoundation ($25,000 Workforce Readiness Grant) - Supporting "The Comeback Club," an initiative to assist women reentering the workforce following a career hiatus.
