Joint Traffic Enforcement Operation Conducted to Promote Safe Driving

Released on Wednesday, October 2, 2024

Fort Collins, CO - Last Friday evening, September 27, 2024, Fort Collins Police Services, Colorado State Patrol and Larimer County Sheriff's Office conducted an enforcement operation targeting aggressive driving behaviors in Fort Collins such as street racing and other driving actions that endanger the motoring public.

More than 40 units saturated Fort Collins and Larimer County streets, making 129 traffic stops, approximately 40% of those being contacts with motorcycles. The enforcement effort yielded three DUI arrests, one warrant arrest, and 44 citations. The most egregious speed cited by officers was 99 mph in a 55 mph zone.

"No where within city limits or Larimer County is ninety-nine miles per hour an acceptable or legal driving speed," said Fort Collins Police Chief Jeff Swoboda. "We appreciate partnerships with our law enforcement neighbors which allow us to blanket the area with concentrated pressure and amplify the message that dangerous driving will not be tolerated."

These law enforcement partnerships make our roads safer by combating dangerous and aggressive driving behaviors through multi-agency traffic operations like this.
