47th Street & East Avenue Construction Project

As part of the Illinois Department of Transportation improvement of the intersection of 47th and East Avenue, they have announced a detour route which entails the closure of eastbound 47th Street between East Avenue and Plainfield Road with westbound 47th Street being reduced from two lanes to one. Additionally, northbound East Avenue between 47th and 55th streets will be closed, southbound East Avenue will remain open.

Notice boards with lane closures and detours are in place. As a reminder, motorists should follow the posted detours, obey flaggers, and allow for additional time when navigating the area. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternative routes.
