NEOMED introduces free, sustainable period products for students and staff

NEOMED has implemented a collaboration with Aunt Flow Period Program to purchase six new dispenser machines with free sustainably produced products (tampons and pads) at no charge to our NEOMED employees and students. By working with Aunt Flow, we are supporting an entrepreneur in the menstrual equity space who also had an eye for sustainability and a marketable product to the campus community.

Aunt Flow is a pioneering organization dedicated to promoting period inclusivity and menstrual equity, recognizing that menstruation is a health issue that transcends gender. Founded by Claire Coder after her own experience of being unprepared during her period, Aunt Flow ensures that everyone who menstruates has access to safe and discreet period products. The organization advocates for stocking all-gender, single-stall restrooms with concealable products, emphasizing privacy and safety. Aunt Flow educates customers and partners on inclusivity for transgender and non-binary individuals and promotes accessible, free-vending, ADA-compliant dispensers. By using inclusive language, such as referring to all products as "period products," and incorporating features like braille and multilingual options, Aunt Flow enhances accessibility. Committed to sustainability, the organization provides organic cotton products and has donated over 6 million period products since 2021, embodying the ethos of "people helping people. PERIOD.

The Aunt Flow machines have been strategically placed near the largest lecture halls and busiest restrooms:

  1. Across from Great Hall (South Corridor)
  2. Next door to Meshell Hall (G Bldg)
  3. Locker room restroom next to Olson Hall (A Bldg)
  4. Next to Liebelt (Lower E Bldg)
  5. Next to Olson Hall 2nd floor near lockers and Psychiatry (B Bldg)
  6. Next door to Watanakunakorn Auditorium (NEW Center)

Baskets of products are also available in 6 additional restrooms including gender neutral bathrooms across from Testing Services and near Liebelt Hall.
