FLINT-Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-08) issued the following statement in response to the results of the 2024 election:
"I congratulate President Trump on his election as the next President of the United States. While this was not the outcome that I or millions of other Americans wanted, I wish President Trump well in the weeks ahead as the transition between administrations takes place. It is my hope that President Trump rises to meet this important moment for our country, especially when so many of our friends, family and neighbors are anxious about the future. I hope that President Trump can be a President for all Americans, that he will respect our democratic institutions, and work to bring us together, not divide us further.
"I congratulate my successor, Congresswoman-elect Kristen McDonald Rivet. She is a pragmatic leader who will bring real leadership for mid-Michigan families in Congress. I know that she will bring a similar approach to bipartisanship and governing that I have always tried to bring to the U.S. House of Representatives.
"The American people have spoken, and it is incumbent upon all Americans to accept the results. Our nation's leaders play an important role in the future of our country, but so do the everyday voices of citizens in our democratic process. We can never take our democracy for granted; we must always work hard to protect it. I continue to believe that America's best days are ahead of us."
