Fairforest Road Bridge over I-26 in Spartanburg Damaged after being struck by Tractor Trailer

​Earlier tonight, the Fairforest Road Bridge over I-26 in Spartanburg was struck by a tractor trailer carrying heavy machinery. One lane in a section of I-26 westbound is closed for cleanup and inspection operations and is expected to reopen overnight.

The bridge sustained significant damage and will remain closed until repairs are made. SCDOT is mobilizing crews to develop an expedited repair plan for the bridge.

Drivers in the area are encouraged to use caution when traveling in the area and to follow the signed detour route.
