SGMC Health Honors Corrao with BEE Award

SGMC Health presented Andrea Corrao, Patient Care Technician, with the December Being Extraordinary Everyday (BEE) Award. Corrao was recognized for her unwavering commitment to providing compassionate care to pediatric patients and their families.

Corrao was nominated by the father of a young patient during a challenging hospital stay. The father describes how his daughter was battling multiple illnesses at once and had little energy. However, as soon as Corrao walked in the room, she would perk up and her whole mood would change. He details how Corrao would bring teddy bears, toys, ice, and blankets to ensure everyone in the family was well-situated.

"Andrea most definitely radiates an energy off of her that even my young daughter saw and could sense. She knew Andrea meant good and was here to help. Andrea is the perfect example of what true kindness and compassion should be in an environment where you are serving others. She undoubtedly went above and beyond!

The BEE Award is presented monthly to recognize non-nursing staff members, including patient care technicians, nursing assistants, and medical assistants, who exemplify extraordinary dedication, teamwork, and compassion in supporting the nursing staff. Nomination criteria include qualities like leadership, attitude, and clinical skills.

SGMC Health offers a variety of recognition programs to honor employees who embody its core values of "Remarkable People, Extraordinary Care, Human Kindness." To learn more about the BEE Award and other recognition programs, visit sgmc.org/recognition.
