At the initiative of the Republic of Croatia, in an effort to address outstanding issues, an extraordinary meeting of the Joint Committee on the Succession of Diplomatic and Consular Property of the Former SFRY was held on December 6, 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in Zagreb. The meeting was chaired by Nevenka Cujzek, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and Deputy Authorized Representative of the Republic of Croatia in the Joint Committee.
All authorized representatives of the successor states welcomed the initiative to convene the meeting, which was held in a highly constructive atmosphere. All participants agreed that the progress made thus far in the succession of diplomatic and consular property has been successful and that, with joint efforts, the distribution of the remaining property can be concluded soon.
During the meeting, discussions focused on activities related to the handover and legal regulation of already distributed property, as well as on open issues, the resolution of which would pave the way for the allocation of the remaining property. To this end, further activities were agreed upon, responsibilities were assigned, and deadlines for their implementation were established.
