PennDOT Offers Update on South Atherton Street Project

PennDOT Offers Update on South Atherton Street Project

10/11/2024

Clearfield, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced it will complete round-the-clock paving operations on its South Atherton Street (Route 3014) project stretching from Curtin Road to just north of Westerly Parkway in State College tonight. The contractor will complete the remaining work during daylight hours with flaggers directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

On Monday, October 14, the contractor will begin pavement marking, highway lighting, upgrading traffic signals, sidewalk work, installing park benches and trash bins, and planting roadside trees and other vegetation. PennDOT expects this work to continue throughout the week.

While PennDOT expects traffic impacts to be far less significant than in the early stages of the project, it reminds drivers to anticipate some delays as they may encounter crews working throughout the work zone.

PennDOT expects all remaining work to wrap up by the first week of November. All work is weather-dependent.

PennDOT posts updates and detour information on the Atherton Street project page weekly and encourages drivers to visit the page at www.penndot.pa.gov/AthertonStreet.

Overall work on the project includes roadway reconstruction, drainage improvements that include pipes and inlets, water and sewer lines, concrete curbing, sidewalks and detectable warning surfaces, pavement markings, traffic signals and supports, and miscellaneous items. HRI, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $30.7 million project. PennDOT anticipates the contractor completing the project in the fall of 2024, but all work is weather-dependent.
