Attorney General Josh Stein Urges North Carolina Servicemembers Defrauded by Harris Jewelry to File a Claim by Dec. 21

(RALEIGH) Attorney General Josh Stein today urged current and former North Carolina servicemembers who may have purchased items from Harris Jewelry and paid for a Lifetime Jewelry and Watch Protection Plan to submit their claims for refunds by Saturday, December 21, 2024. In July 2022, Attorney General Stein, along with other attorneys general and the Federal Trade Commission, won a $34.2 million multistate settlement with Harris, a national jewelry retailer that operated retail stores near and on military bases around the country - including in Fayetteville near Fort Bragg and in Jacksonville near Camp Lejeune. Recently, a federal court ordered Harris Jewelry to reopen its claims process and renotify consumers, most of whom are active duty servicemembers.

"North Carolina servicemembers: please act now if you lost money to Harris Jewelry's unlawful schemes," said Attorney General Josh Stein. "The new window to file a claim is short, so please make sure you act quickly. I'm pleased we were able to stop a bad actor and win back this money for North Carolinians, and I want people who were defrauded to get back every cent they are owed."

The new claims process is open for 33 days starting Monday, November 18, 2024, and ending on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

Here's what people should do if they purchased items from Harris Jewelry and paid for a Lifetime Jewelry and Watch Protection Plan:

  • Apply for a refund now at www.harrisjewelry.com. If you were sold a lifetime jewelry and watch protection plan, knowingly or unknowingly, you may be able to get a full refund.
  • If you owe Harris or CACUSA any debt, stop paying. Your account balance is now $0 and you don't have to make any more payments.
  • Check your credit report. If you still have a negative consumer report or judgment because of Harris or CACUSA, email our office at [email protected]. All negative consumer reports should have been eliminated.
