Published on September 21, 2024

The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on Saturday, September 21, just after 12 p.m. in southeast Lincoln.

The preliminary investigation determined a white Dodge delivery van driven by a 35-year-old man from Omaha was eastbound on the Pioneers Blvd. access road between Nebraska Parkway and 33rd Street. He turned left in front of a motorcycle driving westbound, and the bike collided with the rear passenger side of the van.

The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old Lincoln man, was taken to a local hospital for emergency surgery. His injuries are considered life-threatening. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The van driver was uninjured. He is being voluntarily evaluated by an LPD Drug Recognition Expert although no impairment was suspected on scene. Any charges are pending the outcome of that evaluation and the investigation.

The area surrounding the crash scene will be shut down for several hours as investigators complete their work. We ask drivers to find an alternate route to their destination.

The investigation is ongoing. Those with information can call our non-emergency number at 402-441-6000 or if you would like to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
