(BOWIE, Md.) - Students from 32 nations around the globe participate in International Education Week activities at Bowie State to share and exchange global perspectives with events designed to engage the campus community and promote international education and cross-cultural understanding.
Established in 2000 by the U.S. Departments of State and Education, International Education Week emphasizes cultural exchange, and this year's celebration at BSU is poised to inspire and connect students, faculty, and staff.
The week's centerpiece will be a special visit from the Ambassador of Togo, Honorable Frédéric Edem Hegbe, and his delegation. Their participation will serve as the foundation for an international partnership between Bowie State and the Embassy of Togo in Washington, D.C. to enable prospective Togolese international students to study at the University and promote study - abroad opportunities for BSU students. Their presence underscores Bowie State's commitment to fostering international partnerships and cultural exchange.
"International Education Week is a chance for Bowie State to highlight our diverse community and encourage global engagement," said event organizers. "These programs provide students with opportunities to think beyond borders and explore what it means to be part of a global society."
Students eager to expand their horizons even further can also attend sessions on study-abroad opportunities, including the Boren Awards, which provide scholarships for undergraduates and fellowships for graduates. The Barcelona SAE: HBCU Consortium Summer 2025 Program offers undergraduate students from all majors the chance to take English and Spanish courses while earning credits toward their major, minor, or general education requirements.
