Official visit to India: high-level meetings to expand bilateral agenda in trade, energy, space sector and nuclear technology

Foreign Minister Diana Mondino began a two-day official visit to the Republic of India aimed at consolidating bilateral ties and increasing trade and investments, as well as advancing cooperation projects in strategic areas. Argentina's top diplomat traveled accompanied by a delegation of 13 Argentine companies in order to explore and support business opportunities for joint development.

Mondino -together with the accompanying business delegation- held a meeting with the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, during which they discussed ways to expand bilateral trade and investment in sectors such as energy transition, minerals, health, agriculture, defense and technology. They also highlighted the growing opportunities for collaboration between the two countries. Argentine companies, on their part, presented their export offer and the partnership possibilities with Argentine companies.

On the other hand, the Foreign Minister held a meeting with the Minister of Petroleum and Gas of the Republic of India, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri. During the meeting, both parties agreed that energy presents important opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation.

Mondino also participated in a reception offered by the Argentine Embassy in New Delhi, which was attended by Indian authorities, members of the Malvinas Dialogue Commission, businessmen and cultural representatives.

India is a strategic trade partner for Argentina, since it will be the fifth export destination for our country in 2024. Bilateral trade is complementary and has significant potential for development. Our country is a reliable supplier of India and is the main exporter of soybean oil and the third largest exporter of sunflower oil. In this sense, Argentina seeks to recover the trade levels reached in 2022, when a historic peak was recorded with almost 6.4 billion dollars in global trade.

During the meetings, Mondino was accompanied by Argentine Ambassador to India, Mariano Caucino; the Undersecretary of Agricultural Production and Forestry, Manuel Chiappe; the Director of Economic Relations with Asia and Oceania, Minister Manuel Balaguer Salas; the Director of Asia and Oceania, Minister Luis Del Solar Dorrego; the National Director of Protocol, Georgina Fernández Distéfano and officials of the Argentine Embassy in New Delhi.
